First Punic War

The First Punic War was the first of three major Punic wars fought between Carthage and Rome. The epic struggle lasted 23 years with Rome finally emerging victorious. Despite the brilliance of Hamilcar Barca (father of Hannibal), Carthage eventually yielded to the Roman legions and conceded Sicily to Rome.
